About the Artist

Nan-C is the name I go by for my beautiful guardian angel portraits. The portraits are 9x12 and are created with colored pencils. I typically spend about 9 hours on each guardian angel portrait, and I am careful to take my time to capture the essence and beauty of your guardian angel. I think of myself as a spiritual artist, so I use my insight to write a short story to coincide with your portrait.

I first started drawing in 1992, which was when I retired. I remember that at the time, a child was kidnapped in a nearby city. This event is what started my career as an angel artist. Because I was so attached to the situation, I felt as if the angels were guiding me to draw, and I've been drawing angels ever since. Before these sketches, I had never drawn creatively, nor had I been formally educated in art.

Following my first angel sketches, I would occasionally feel driven to draw, and I would give these drawings to my family and friends. When they saw my sketches, they encouraged me to start offering my drawing services to people who would pay me for personalized sketches of angels, especially guardian angels. Following their advice, I began to show my work at holistic fairs, offering my services to anyone who would like to see their personal guardian angel.

One of my early clients ordered more than 20 portraits for her family members. With that commission, my portrait career took off, because by the time I finished her order, I had 20 guardian angel portraits for my portfolio. That was more than 10 years ago; as of now, I have done countless more portraits for people of all interests and venues.

My process is very simple when I begin an angel portrait. I say the Lord's Prayer, and then I prayerfully ask my teachers and guides to assist me in creating your individual angel. I also ask for guidance for the short story I write about your angel, which consists of what your angel's presence means in your life. If you are interested in angels in general, I have done many angels who are not meant for anyone in particular, which are available for purchase. I am also working on having calendars, greeting cards, and other products that feature my angels, which will soon be available to the public.

Although most of my angels are for adults and older children, I can also sketch what is called "birth angels"for newborn babies. A birth angel is the angel who is present when a baby is born. The birth angel portrait always includes the mother (or grandparent), the infant, and the angel. It can also include another person who is of importance in the baby's life. I also do angels for those who have passed on or who are about to pass on, people portraits, and person of interest portraits. *If you would like more information about a person of interest portrait, please-email me at nansees@aol.com.

I am blessed both in my talent, and in being able to display my work in the following venues:
* Holistic Fairs * Plymouth Inn (Assisted Living)
* Sterling Heights Library (Monthly Craft Displays)
* Michigan State Fair 2000
* Photo Contest (A compilation book named "Portal to the Past", published in 2001), which can be seen at http://www.picture.com
* Church of Today Art Auction (donations) for 2 years
* Small business seminar, which was put on by Staples Office Stores
* Newspaper article in the Macomb Daily Newspaper, August 1997

The above photo was captured during meditation class. There were no windows in the room, and the lights were turned off. The only light came from the candles in the center of the group. You can easily discern the shape of a cross behind me. Although I have not been able to determine if the photographer used a special lens or something else to create the effect, the picture has become very special to me.

My Ideas

I know that God has shown me a fresh way of looking at life and at my chosen path. He has endowed me with the talents and capability to effect a change in the world I live in. My wish is to be able to give you a small portion of that gift. To me, the following words embody how I have discovered new meaning in my life.

Place of Meditation

My place of mediatation

Insight

Insight, or seeing things as they really are, does not require visual proof to make it real. Angels can touch our souls and our hearts through our ears and our eyes. Angels promise us that our concerns and our love are heard and acted upon at a deeper level, which is where honest change can happen.

Imagination

I believe that imagination is the undeviating line to "true intelligence" and distinction. Imagination is the seed from which all excellent works of art bloom. Einstein was known to say, "Imagination is more important than knowledge." Our imagination is the purest medium through which we can connect with our angels.

Blessings

A blessing is a kindness that comes directly from God.

May you always live in love and light,
Nan-C's Angels
